The Challenge: A Hotel Guest Journey, Live on a Show Floor

For No Vacancy 2026, the hotel industry expo at ICC Sydney on 23 and 24 September, Samsung Electronics Australia wanted to show hoteliers the full guest experience running on Samsung hardware: self check-in at a kiosk, room keys written on a Galaxy Tab Active Pro, and a personalised in-room experience on Samsung Hospitality TVs managed through LYNK Cloud, Samsung's hotel management solution.

The demo hotel was called Sovereign Royal Suites. To make it real, it needed in-room dining that actually reached a kitchen, plus a payment step at check-in. That is where Payflo came in.

The Approach: Built Together at Samsung's Head Office

The Payflo team worked alongside Samsung at Samsung's Head Office to walk through the demo, map where Payflo fitted, and agree a build plan. The work was split into two parts.

1. In-room dining from the Samsung TV

  • Order from the TV: menu items on the Samsung Hospitality TV were mapped to Payflo products, so a guest's order goes straight into the Payflo POS and onto the Kitchen Display System, with no re-keying by staff
  • Order from your phone: a room-aware Payflo QR code on the TV screen lets guests order from their own phone, with the room number carried through to the order

2. Check-in, pre-authorisation and room key

  • Card pre-authorisation: a demo Payflo tap-to-pay step on the Galaxy Tab Active Pro showed how a hotel could take an incidentals pre-authorisation during self check-in
  • NFC room key: the same tablet handled the room-key step, then passed the result back to Samsung's check-in kiosk to finish the journey

The Results: Bespoke TV Ordering in 2 Weeks

Payflo built the bespoke ordering solution in 2 weeks, in time for the expo.

Across both days at ICC Sydney, visitors to the Samsung booth could step through the Sovereign Royal Suites journey themselves, from check-in on the tablet to ordering in-room dining from the TV.

The Impact: Hotel Ordering Without the Re-Keying

For hotels, the demo showed something practical. An order placed from the guest-room TV, or from a guest's phone, lands in the restaurant and kitchen just like any other Payflo order. There's no phone call to room service and no docket typed in twice.

The collaboration has continued. Payflo and Samsung are now working together on a rugged tap-to-pay POS offer on the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro with ANZ Worldline.

What Would You Build?

Payflo builds with the people who use it, whether that's a waterfront restaurant or a global hardware brand.

If your hotel or venue needs ordering on a screen, at the table or in the room, let's talk.
